The Language and Literacy Center at MCC supports English-language learners (ELL) on their way to academic and career success. ELL and English as a Second Language (ESL) academic support services are available to English-language learners at any level, whether enrolled in the MCC ESL program or taking general education or program courses

Let’s Talk Conversation Group

Let's Talk is a beginning conversation group especially for ESL students in levels 1 and 2. Let's Talk will use games and conversation starters to practice vocabulary and grammar skills, improve pronunciation, and help students become more comfortable speaking English in everyday situations.

“Rewiring” Your Life for Happiness: Practicing English through the Science of Happiness

In this interactive workshop, English language learners will strengthen their reading, listening, speaking, and writing skills while exploring the science of happiness and wellbeing. Through engaging “Rewirement” activities, students will practice analyzing ideas, making inferences, and expressing opinions clearly in English. The focus is on building both positive habits and language confidence through discussion, reflection, and presentation.

Fluent Futures ESL Speaking Lab

The ESL Fluent Futures Speaking Lab is a fun, supportive workshop where intermediate and advanced English learners build confidence in speaking through interactive activities and pronunciation practice. Participants will strengthen their conversational and professional English, improve fluency, and gain skills to support academic and career success.
