Academics is at the heart of the MCC mission. The world around us is changing as individuals, organizations and cities work to change systems and processes to make them less harmful to the environment and humans. At MCC, our goal is to increase education on sustainability issues so that our students are prepared and equipped to tackle the sustainability challenges of today and the future.

A course inventory is completed every two to three years for the AASHE STARS report to gather information on how many of the MCC credit classes contain sustainability. The 2021 report showed that 8% of credit classes contain sustainability, the same percentage as in 2018.
This section of the sustainability report focuses on credit classes. MCC also offers a number of noncredit sustainability classes throughout the year, which can be found in the Community Education program.
There are seven credits as a part of the Academics section of the STARS report, which is the majority of the STAR potential credits.
2022 Action Plan
