Architectural Design Technology

Overview

The Architectural Design Technology (ARCH) program helps students prepare for jobs in the architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) industry. It focuses on building important technical, digital, and professional skills. In this program, students learn how to create, understand, and manage drawings, digital models, and building information using modern technology. They also gain knowledge about construction materials, assemblies, systems, and safety rules related to buildings.

The classes emphasize problem-solving and teamwork, showing students how to apply architectural and engineering ideas in real-life situations. Through hands-on labs and group projects, students practice what they learn in class and see how it works in the real world. After graduating, students are ready to work as design technicians in architecture and engineering offices, helping architects, engineers, contractors, and other professionals in the AEC industry.

Students interested in becoming licensed architects or engineers need additional education beyond MCC. Students seeking to work in the AEC industry as technicians can do so without a license.
