About Biotechnology Fundamentals
This program prepares participants for entry-level work in Omaha's growing biotechnology and biomanufacturing industry. You'll learn how labs work, how to handle materials and equipment safely, and how to follow the procedures and documentation standards employers rely on every day.
Training is hands-on at MCC Elkhorn Valley Campus and was developed with input from local industry, so the skills you build match what employers actually need.
Alongside technical training, you'll earn an OSHA 10 safety certification and get guided help with your resume, interview skills, and a professional portfolio. The program also includes a structured externship — a supervised workplace visit where you observe real operations and get a firsthand look at what these jobs look like day to day.
Graduates may also earn credit toward an MCC Biotechnology Associate Degree. Completing this program can count toward BIOS 1610: Introduction to Biotechnology, if you choose to continue your education.
