Certified Fiber Optic Specialist In Outside Plant (CFOS/O)
Overview
Introduces students to industry standards governing the installation, testing, and troubleshooting of outside plant fiber optic cable. Combines lecture sessions and 85 percent hands-on activities. Students learn how to identify fiber cabling types, recognize various outside plant closures used in fiber installation, install, prepare, terminate, splice, and properly test and troubleshoot installed fiber cable to existing standards.
Prerequisites: High School diploma/GED; ability to read, speak and write English; no felonies on background; valid driver’s license and clean driving record; ability to climb ladders; prior construction or cabling experience preferred but not required.
