Overview

Introduces students to high performance splicing and the points necessary to achieve these splices. Classroom activities offer training in both fusion and mechanical splicing of either single or multimode fiber optic cables. Student are responsible for successfully making and testing both mechanical and fusion splices as well as correctly and efficiently installing spliced fibers into splice trays and enclosures.

Prerequisites: High School diploma/GED; ability to read, speak and write English; no felonies on background; valid driver’s license and clean driving record; ability to climb ladders; prior construction or cabling experience preferred but not required.
