Logistics and Industry Academy
Overview
- NorthStar Digital Literacy: Offers tests and resources to improve essential digital skills like using computers, the internet, and software, aimed at enhancing digital literacy for work, education, and daily life.
- OSHA 10-Hour General Industry: Teaches entry-level workers to recognize and prevent workplace safety hazards, covering safety practices and workers' rights for a safe environment.
- Forklift Certification: Provides training on safe forklift operation, meeting OSHA standards, and earning a forklift license for industrial settings.
- NC3 Tape and Rule: Teaches accurate measurement techniques with tape measures and rules used in construction and manufacturing, focusing on precision skills for industry.
- MSSC Certified Logistics Associate (CLA): Covers basics of supply chain logistics including safety, material handling, quality control, communication, and problem-solving, preparing for entry-level logistics jobs.
- MSSC Certified Logistics Technician (CLT): Teaches skills for supply chain logistics such as product handling, order processing, inventory management, and safe handling of materials, preparing for higher-level logistics roles.
- This 100-hour, four-month academy offers in-person training leading to multiple credentials or certification exam readiness.
Types of Jobs: Warehouse Supervisor, Logistics Coordinator, Materials Manager, Supply Chain Specialist, Distribution Center Manager.
Prerequisite: 18 years old, 8th Grade Reading and 8th Grade Math competencies
Time Requirement to Complete Credential: 100 hours of classroom instruction

About the MCC Logistics & Industrial Automation Academy
This Academy groups a series of Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and National Coalition of Certification Centers (NC3) certifications designed to gain hands-on experience in safety, measurement, forklift, and logistics. This training improves safety standards and customer service in the workplace.

Certification Pathway & Registration
Tier 1 Certifications:
- OSHA 10 - General Industry Certification - provides training for entry-level workers on the recognition, avoidance, abatement, and prevention of safety and health hazards in workplaces, as well as information regarding workers' rights and employer responsibilities.
- OSHA Forklift Operator Training - OSHA standard 1910.178 requires employers to ensure that all forklift operators are properly trained and certified. Covers all training topics required by OSHA, including operation instructions, warnings, and precautions, steering and maneuvering, load capacity, inspections, maintenance and more.
- NC3 Certification in Precision Measurement - prepares participants to meet the needs and expectations of modern industry in the global marketplace. Covers precision measurement instruments like tape and rule form the basis of quality in manufacturing and repair. Upon completion, participants who receive the NC3 certification have shown competency in using precision measurement tools to their full potential.
- Certified Logistics Associate (CLA) Certification - provides participants with the foundational knowledge needed to understand the world of supply chain and related core competencies, including global supply chain, logistics environment, safety, safe equipment operation, material handling equipment, quality control, workplace communication, teamwork, problem solving and using computers.
- Certified Logistics Technician (CLT) - provides participants with the technical knowledge needed to understand the world of supply chain logistics, product receiving and storage, order processing, packaging and shipment, inventory control, safe handling of hazardous materials, evaluation of transportation modes, customs, dispatch and tracking operations. Prerequisite: Must complete WIDX479 Certified Logistics Associate (CLA) to take this course.
- Certified Production Technician (CPT) - prepares participants for an advanced, high-performance manufacturing environment. Training aligns with Manufacturing Skills Standards Council (MSSC) standards and helps individuals enhance their core technical knowledge and skills for production work from entry-level to front-line supervisory level.
Eligibility
- Have an eighth-grade math and tenth grade reading level
- WIDX479 Certified Logistics Associate (CLA) is a prerequisite to the Certified Logistics Technician (CLT)
