Often, students who connect with Advocacy Counselors are also trying to navigate or overcome a financial hardship. Advocacy Counselors may refer students to following options and resources and assist with navigating next steps:

  • Student Emergency Grant – This grant can provide one-time assistance to students experiencing a financial emergency. The intention is to assist the student in completing the current quarter, so must be currently taking classes to apply.
  • Hardship Withdrawal Process – This process is for students who have experienced an unexpected circumstance which has directly impacted their ability to successfully complete classes.
  • Financial Aid Appeal (or SAP appeal): This appeal allows students who are currently in financial aid denied status to submit documentation and a narrative requesting that their financial aid be reinstated. For specific questions on the process, please contact the MCC Financial Aid Office.
