Transfer Guide: MCC Business Transfer (BSTAA) to NWU Business-related degrees
This Pathway is designed to help students earning an Associate of Arts degree in Business Transfer (BSTAA) transfer into most business-related majors at Nebraska Wesleyan University. Students who follow this pathway are in position to complete a Bachelor of Science degree in two years (four full-time semesters). This pathway prepares students for the following majors:
- Business Administration
- Business-Sociology
- Economics
- Sport Management
Some guidelines for this Pathway:
- Students making satisfactory progress after transferring, and who follow their course plan, can graduate in two years at NWU.
- Students with NWU GPAs at or above 3.25 can take dual BS/MBA courses for a head start on their Master of Business Administration degree.
General Transfer Policies:
- Students who follow this pathway will transfer a total of 94.5 quarter credit hours, which is equivalent to 63 semester credit hours at NWU.
- NWU can transfer a maximum of 96 quarter credit hours (64 semester credit hours) from community colleges.
- 4.5 quarter credits transfer as 3 semester credit hours; 6 quarter credit hours transfer as 4 semester credit hours.
- Students must complete a minimum of 126 semester credit hours to earn a bachelor’s degree from NWU. Transferrable courses which do not meet degree requirements (aka “elective credits”) still count toward this 126 and are marked on the pathway as “credit toward graduation.”
- MCC Courses with numbers below 1000 will not transfer.
- MCC Courses must have grades of C or better to transfer.
- Students should work with their advisor when selecting courses for the AA. This guide offers recommendations for transferable courses and is not intended to be a substitute for advising at MCC.

Transfer Guide: MCC Liberal Arts Transfer (LATAS) to NWU Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science (pre-Athletic Training)
This Pathway is designed to help students earning an Associate of Science degree in Liberal Arts Transfer (LATAS) transfer into the Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science (pre-AT) at NWU. Students are on track to apply to the Master of Athletic Training (MAT) program during their first year at NWU, and once admitted will begin graduate courses in their fourth year. Students who follow this pathway are in position to complete a Bachelor of Science and Master of Athletic Training in three academic years after transferring.
Some guidelines for this Pathway:
- Students must have a cumulative college GPA above 2.0 to be accepted to Nebraska Wesleyan University.
- Students will need a minimum cumulative (all college) 3.0 GPA to apply for the MAT program.
- Students must complete the Pathway coursework with grades of C or higher in each course.
- Students must complete 50 athletic training observational hours supervised by a certified athletic trainer before beginning the MAT Program.
- Students who follow this pathway will transfer a total of 94.5 quarter credit hours, which is equivalent to 63 semester credit hours at NWU.
- Students who choose not to apply for the MAT can finish the Bachelor of Science in two years at NWU (four full-time semesters).
- Students who transfer before completing courses or requirements in this pathway may be able to complete courses after transferring and stay on track. Consult an NWU admissions counselor for guidance.

Nebraska Wesleyan University Transfer Guide for Metropolitan Community College General Education
The Archway Curriculum is NWU’s nationally-recognized general education program. It is designed to enrich our students’ skills development within and beyond their majors throughout education. MCC students can transfer in many courses to meet Archway Curriculum requirements.
This document will help you determine which MCC academic transfer courses can transfer to NWU and meet general education requirements. It is designed for the student who is undecided on a degree program, or who is interested in a program for which there is no transfer guide. If you have questions, please contact your NWU admissions counselor.
General Transfer Guidelines:
- Required coursework can vary depending on a student’s degree program, transferring credit, and other factors. Ask your admissions counselor for more information
- The University Registrar and/or respective Department Chair at Nebraska Wesleyan will conduct a course-by-course evaluation of official transcripts to apply courses to general education, academic major, and degree requirements.
- Courses must have a grade of C or higher to be considered for transfer, though some programs have different requirements. See specific program requirements for more details.
- Students must complete a total of 126 semester hours to earn a bachelor’s degree from NWU. A maximum of 64 semester credit hours (96 quarter credit hours) can be transferred from SCC.

Note to students: PSYCH 2100 Psychological Statistics offers different content than general or mathematical statistics. MATH 1410 Statistics at MCC is not 62-64 equivalent to this course, although it will meet the requirement for mathematical problem solving at NWU and is a good foundation for PSYCH 2100.

Nebraska Wesleyan University Transfer Guide for Metropolitan Community College Students Traditional Nursing (BSN) program
This program is for traditional undergraduates seeking a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) in conjunction with an outstanding liberal arts education. Students are admitted to the program once a year, with classes starting in August. Admission to the nursing program is a competitive, holistic process with two applications:
Step 1: Apply for admission to NWU as a transfer student and provide official transcripts
Step 2: Submit the BSN program application, available from November 1-February 1 each year
Admission requirements for the traditional BSN program are:
- Cumulative college GPA of 3.0 or above
- Completion of prerequisite courses with grades of C or better (see table below)
- Completion of Certified Nurse Aid (CNA) course and listing on the state registry
- CPR certification for Health Care Providers
- Successful background check, drug screen, immunization tracker and essential functions form

The NWU Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program is designed to be completed in four total years: one year of prerequisite courses, then three years of nursing courses. MCC transfer students who wish to follow the four-year timeline should transfer to NWU after one year.
Students who wish to remain at MCC longer, or who want to transfer after completing an associate’s degree, will complete the BSN program in five total years (or more, depending on how long they remain at MCC). Students can take the following courses at MCC to meet BSN degree and general education requirements at NWU:

Transfer Guide: MCC Human Services Transfer (HSTAA) to NWU Bachelor of Arts or Science in Social Work
This Pathway is designed to help students earning an Associate of Arts degree in Human Services Transfer (HSTAA) transfer into the social work major at Nebraska Wesleyan University. Students who follow this pathway are positioned to complete a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree in Social Work (BSW) in two or two and a half years (four or five full-time semesters). Graduates of NWU’s Social Work program qualify for advanced standing into the Master of Social Work (MSW) program, waiving the first year of graduate requirements.

- Students who follow this pathway will transfer a total of 96 quarter credit hours, which is equivalent to 64 semester credit hours at NWU.
- MCC Courses must have grades of C or better to transfer.
- MCC courses applying to the NWU social work major must have a grade of B or better
- Students who transfer before completing courses or requirements in this pathway may be able to complete courses after transferring and stay on track. Consult an NWU admissions counselor for guidance
